Accountability

Setting Clear Expectations & Taking Ownership

Overview

As organizations face increasing pressure to perform, the word “accountability” gets mentioned more and more. But as much as we would like to “hold others accountable,” the reality is that accountability is an internal process. The best we can do to is deliver on our own obligations and encourage others to do the same. In this session, we’ll dive into what accountability is and how to demonstrate to others that you’re taking ownership of your responsibilities. We’ll also get into challenging scenarios such as having accountability without authority and shared accountability.

Outcomes

  • Understand what is accountability and why it is important
  • Learn how your actions increase or erode the perception that you’re accountable
  • Gain insight on what to do if you face challenges to being fully accountable
  • Identify how to recover if you stumble or fail at something you were accountable for
  • Acquire appropriate tools to address accountability challenges
