Overview & Strengths
Liane Swanlund is a seasoned Human Resources professional and Senior Executive with over 34 years in the public and private sectors, over the course of which she acquired a broad range of experience related to people, program and project management in both operational and corporate settings. A former Head of Human Resources for two small federal organizations, she integrated business strategy into HR service delivery, capitalizing on a wealth of knowledge related to recruitment, staffing, labour relations, classification, compensation, and other relevant people management programs.
Throughout her public service and private sector career, Liane occupied several positions of increasing responsibility, establishing a track record for building strong teams and delivering effective business results for clients.
Before her retirement, Liane was the Director General of Health and Workplace Management for Public Safety, a portfolio that included Labour Relations, Occupational Health and Safety, Classification and Compensation. Over the course of her public sector career, she also held senior positions with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency, the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, and the Canada Revenue Agency.
Notable accomplishments include:
- Developing, implementing and managing a separate employer’s response to COVID-19, involving workplace protocols required by a significant on-site employee presence;
- Implementing the Human Resources function for a newly created government department;
- Initiating the review of the Core Public Administration’s Occupational Group Structure for the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat; and
- Delivering a new classification standard for a separate employer.
Liane holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
