Overview and Strengths

Julian has coached leaders in both private- and public-sector organizations, in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The focus of his coaching is mostly in the areas of strategic decision-making, communication, and work-life balance. He has helped numerous leaders transition into more senior roles using 360 assessments to access and process the perceptions of those around them, leading to greater insight and awareness of both their strengths and vulnerabilities.

Julian has been a trusted advisor and confidante to leaders since 1999 when he was hired as Communications Consultant to a senior VP at CGI, the largest independent IT consultancy in Canada. Julian earned his PhD in Education from the University of Toronto in 2010 and has presented at international conferences in Europe and North America, including at Harvard and UNESCO.

Julian has been an independent consultant since 2000, partnering with senior leaders on communications strategy before transitioning into executive and leadership coaching in 2010. Today he is an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC), the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international coaching journal Philosophy of Coaching, and the developer and instructor of the ICF-accredited course Psychology for Coaches. He also writes a column for Psychology Today and is a frequent contributor to Choice: The magazine of professional coaching.

Coaching Philosophy

Julian works with C-suite, VPs, Directors, and High Potentials to create observable behavioural change that is career-enhancing and life affirming for the individuals and high ROI for the organizations they work with.

His goal is to exponentially increase the rate of personal and professional growth in clients so they continue to benefit from coaching long after the engagement has officially ended.

Julian brings a wide range of frameworks, models, tools and assessments to develop emotional intelligence, positive intelligence, focus, presence, resilience, and creativity in the leaders he works with.
