Overview

Janet Wong is a bilingual Leadership Consultant and Coach. She is a former Director General who has retired from the public service after a distinguished 31 year career. Janet has worked as a Director General for over 7 years and as an executive for over 16 years.

Janet’s leadership strength and resilience comes from her humble beginnings growing up in northern Ontario and the diversity of functions that she has embraced within the public service. Her expertise includes coaching and advising executives, human resources, learning, procurement, information management, and operations management. Her experience has been gained through positions in a variety of line and central agencies including: the Canada School of Public Service, National Defence, Shared Services Canada, the Canadian International Development Agency to name a few.

More recently, Janet has worked as a senior advisor to executives across the public service with the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada (APEX) providing support and advice to the executive cadre on a wide range of topics such as what it means to be an executive, what does a DG expect of their executives, terms and conditions of employment, dealing with a difficult boss or employee, health and wellness, performance management and career and retirement planning.

Janet is passionate about supporting those who are transitioning whether it be to a new role as an executive, to a new role or career or those contemplating retirement and the exciting opportunities that it brings.

Janet holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Ottawa.
